The Problem
Montgomery College was making big changes to their benefits—and it needed to boost awareness of these changes in a big way.
It was going to eliminate a PPO plan for future hires, change the college’s point-of-service plan, and roll out a new high-deductible health plan (HDHP) with a health savings account (HSA). It had to make its existing employees aware of these changes in an easy way that highlighted the value of the new options, but in the past the school had struggled to arrange in-person sessions that worked with every employee’s class schedule.
The Plan
Montgomery College signed up for ALEX to help drive awareness of these changes and highlight the tax savings of the HSA.
ALEX explained it all in simple, plainspoken English and calculated how much each health plan might cost the employee based on their estimated medical usage. And because ALEX was available online, around-the-clock, to answer employee questions, every member of Montgomery College’s diverse workforce could learn about their benefits when it suited their schedule.
The Outcome
ALEX received a glowing report card from Montgomery College. Nearly all of surveyed users found the medical module to be helpful, and 95% said they found the tax savings module, where ALEX explained their new HSAs, to be helpful as well.
“ALEX was just phenomenal,” said Karen Bass, Human Resources Manager. “He broke it down in an easy way and helped us raise awareness of the value of the HSA plan to someone who might want to participate in it.”
